The {Flat Poinrt homestead, wlik-li w,as burnt to the ground last week, was on© of the oldest houses on the Coast, being built in 1854. A nev homestead is to be built almost at once. Messrs P. and W. N. Kummer travelled to Masterton this week to take part in the chess toTj.ma.ment. Messrs! H. Pardee and J. i?. (Miss Carley, of Master-iOn, :s spending a. short holiday at Stansiboro'. 'Miss Barme, of Feilding, and Miss Moore, of Masterton, are staying at Braokenfield. Mr J: T. M. Horn&by addressed the electors of (this district in the achoo-lroom on Saturday Tlie room was crowded with an attentive audience, which ga?e the speaker a splendid reception. Mr Hornsiby dealt with the ! a:id question and exports, and also trait Ihriefly with the Mokau land question.
