The weather was beautifully fine for the public dance last' Friday evening, which enabled a very large number of people to take advantage of the elaborate preparations made by the committee for their comfort. The "Grand March" made a brilliant spectacle, the pretty dresses of the ladies making a gay picture.' The supper table decorations were in the capable hands of Mtsdames Sinclair, Ireland, Wilson, O'Connor, and Miss Dickens, and the ladies were heartily complimented on their •artistic work. Mr J. Powell carried out the duties of M.C., while firstclass music was supplied by Messrs F. McKenzie (piano), and R. Ward (cornet). A football toa'tch Whakntakd v. Tinui was played last Saturday, and resulted in a win for Tinui, after a well-contested game. Mr D. Murray was referee.
