AN OTAKI CASE.
An. advance stag© of a slander J . action was mentioned before Mt Jus"tiioe Sim at a Chamber sitting yesterday.- ■ The .parties, were Charles' Arthur Whitmore Monokton, of Pahike. tnear Otaki, grazier and dealer in livie stock, plaintiff, and Byron Brown, of Otaki, (storekeeper, defendant. \ •Mr C. B. Morison. appeared for plaintiff, and Mr A. W. Blair for de"ffemdanit. The claim.is for £1250 damages en five causes of action, each asking £250, for alleged slander relating to plaintiff's financial position. iMr Blair moved for discovery and interrogatories, and secured a general order. Mr Morison applied for interrogatories to he answered, to which Mr Silair consented. The action .will come on for hearing sit Palmerston North during the -iensuing sessions of ithe Supreme Court.
