INCREASED WAGES DEMANDED
' The carpenters and joiners of the Wellington country tlistri.'ts are •asking for a new award. At present the minimum wage is 1" 3d per hour. The employees now ask for Is 6d per hour, And 2s per day extra when working in the country. A conference between representatives of tho and the master builders will be held in Master-ton ■on Monday next.
