THE MASTERTON SEAT.
During his visit to Masterton, Mr W. F. Maissey interviewed the two candidates who are standing in the Opposition interest for the Masiterfcoa electorate. A suggestion was made that either Mr Syke® or Mv: Herbert should retire, but there appeared to be difficulties' in the way, and it to® eventually decided that both candidate's should go to the poll, each under taking, should tliere be a second 'ballot, to throw the ful' weight of his influence in (favour of rthe remaining Opposition candidate. If the party of reform is loyal to itself and the country, it mil mot mind a second visit to the' polling (booth, and will vote solid for the candidate who proves to be the strongest at the first ballot.
