POLITICAL ADDRESS.
MR G. R. SYKES AT KURIPUNI.
Mr G-. R. ,Sykes, a candidate for the Masterton seat, addressed a meeting of electors in. the Kuripuni Hall last evening. Mr S. R. Edwards occupied the chair. There Was a good attendance, and the candidate met with a cordial reception. Mr Sykes spoke on similar lines as in Masterton, and wis frequenitly applauded. In answer to questions, the candidate stated that he was not in favour of every, farm labourer being able to demand a portion of his employer's farm; he would do everything possible to relieve the burdens of heads, of families'; he thought that the time was hardly ripe for a system of proportional representation in New Zealand; and he would give a definite reply to a question regarding the Rimutaka deviation at a future meeting. On the motion of Mr J. Smith, seconded by the Chairman, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Sykes for his able address.
