By Telegraph — Press Association
WOODVILLE, Yesterday
Tliere was a miraculous esca.pt from a serious accident la the Manawatn Gorge-yesterday. Two motor cars ran into each other at a place in the .middle of the Gorge called Barney's Point. One oar belonged to Mr S. Boltow, and the other to' Mr Osibome Lilley, of Pahiatua. The, former was returning from Palmerston, and was being driven bv Ma-' Felix Bolton, and in it were his mother and two sisters. The other oar contained Mr and Mrs Lilley, Miss Allen, and a lady from Christohnirch. The cars met at a sharp comer of the road, where there .was no chance of passing, and to avoid going over the .side they had to bump into each other. Mrs. Bolton and her daughters were thrown out, over the side* of the bank, the former rolling down some distance before she icaught hold of a hush. In (the other car the lady from Chsristcthurch. got her nose injured. Strange to relate, that was the only damage' (sustained by the party. Both care were badly injured, and it 'took till nearly midnighlt to effect repairs.
