COUNTRY TOURING TEAMS.
WIN FOR NORTH ISLAND
WANGANUI, Last Night. The; third; match*of the North Island country team's tour was .played on Saturday afternoon, "when they met and vanquished Wanganui by 13 points to nil. The visitors were in good condition, and saw the game out hetter than- the home team. The teams, were very evenly .matched as regards- play, but the North Islanders had the advantage in weight. _ The .score does not represent the difference between the contestants. The weather was fine, the ground in good order,, and there was a' large attendance. The, gam© <was marred tby a regrettable incident. Just before the third quarter ended, Percival. followed up a kick to McKenzic at full. and the latter, in fending Percival with, his elbow, caught ihim, on the point of the. chin, laying him out. A large section of the crowd hooted, roaring that McKenzie should be put off, and calling him a coward. The match all through, was hard and strenuous-, and several of the visitors were temporarily injured. North Island 'Started with, a rush - before the first quarter ended, and Decmond scored from a dribbling rush. McKenzie converted. • The visitors tried many passing bouts, which lacked finiah, otherwise the iscore would have been increased. Another forward rush in the third quarter by Bailey and Smith was successful, the former scoring. McKenzie again added the extra points. With two minute* to go, Downing dived over from a line out. McKenzie, who was iStill. being hooted by a portion... of "the crowd, missed the keck. The game ended North Island 13, Wanganui nil. As the visiting team was leaving the ground a demonstration wa,s made by a small -crowd.

O'Brien Mussed the shot' at goal, Another try was scored by O'Brien, and converted hy the «ame player. After a, fast passing bout the visitors quickly iscored another try. Otago were caught (hopelessly off tiheic. guard, failing . hopelessly to meet the zig-zag passing. Manning scored, and :0 Brien converifeiand $3, Otago £. Li ' the .second spell Otago stowed a. decoded- improvementy and added.' two tries; ..one by Brown, and another By Casey. Neither was converted- The .game; ended the scores 14 to 13 in .favour of Otago; with the visi-' tors at/tacking vigorously. I
