BRITISH POLITICS
THE HOUSE OF LORDS.
A CENSURE MOTION
(Received Last Night, 9.50 o'clock.)
LONDON, August 3
Lord Lansdowne, on behalf of Lord Curzon, gave notice of a censure motion in the House of Lords, to- be moved on Tuesday in similar terms asr.the Hon. A. J. Balfour moved in the House of Commons. Mr Balfour's motion was sprung upon the House with dramatic suddenness, and it is regarded in the lobby as a demonstratiqn in force, aiming at the reconciliation of the Unionists, and tending to satisfy the combative policy of the stalwarts, and compensate them for allowing the Lords to pass the Veto. It is practically settled to hold an Autumn: session. Parliament will adjourn in a fortnight, and resume in October.
