ATTEMPTS TO FORM A MINISTRY
MR WADE FAILS

SYDNEY, July 31. Mr G. C. Wade .states that, owing to his inability to persuade the Lieut.Governor to grant a dissolution, he has returned his commission to form a Ministry. ' Later, Mr Holman was sent for. The result of the interview■ has not, however, been made public.

A PROROGATION GRANTED

J • SYDNEY, July 31. Mr Holman had a second interview with the Lieutenant-Governor, who asked him to withdraw the resignations of the Government, and granted the condition asked for, that Parliament should prorogue over tho byeelection. Mr Holman has consented to the prorogation issue being discussed tomorrow. Meantime, the Government wit! continue in power.
