STEAMER ACCIDENT.

• . NAPIER, Last Night. As the steamer Hauroto was coming alongside- the Glasgow Wharf aa about 5.30 this, evening, she ran into the end ,<>f the wharf-, Stem on, cutting through the ten-feet timber bay and about four feet ,of the concrete--wharf beyond it. The rent in Mio ■wbar£ is approximately 14ft long, and of tlie same width at iJie entrainee. Hie damage to tire wharf is considerable. The steamer is also considerably damaged at the' bow. A few feet above the water line the stem is dented, and tHe steel plates are open for a distance of about 7ft from the front. The harbour master was in- charge at the time of the accident.
