OIL LAUNCH DISASTER.
IN THE PELORUS SOUNDS.
TWO PERSONS DROWNED,
A sensational disaster is reported j from, the Pelorus, Sounds, a private l oil launch catching -.iirei, and the occupants., Mr and uVirs Taylor junr., losling their lives. It appears that the young couple left Mr Nathan Harvey's place at Anaroa on Saturday weak, vo go to Four Fathom Bay, and have not since been, heard of. Mr J. W. Taylor, sonr., becoming anxious, went out in. search for the missing 'boat, and found a portion> of the launch, wrecked by the ravages of flames, on. the beach. There was no sign of Mr or Mrs> Taylor. A (man's coat, badly burnt, ivas ihe only evidence of the trage-ly. The charred remains of liie boat were picked up at Home wood Bay. It is surmised that Mr sail \irs Taylor, after vainly endeavouring to subdue the flames, jumped overoj&rd, and. were both drowned in toying to reach the land. Search parties have been out every day, but not the slightest trace of the bodie has been foaind. The report of the calamity .lias been received -wirtih great sorrow in all parts of the Sounds, where Mr and Mrs Taylor were extremely popular and highly respected.
