MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
. MEETING OF COUNCIL. A meeting of the Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: Messrs Alex. Henderson^(in the chair), D. Donald, J. B. Keith, 6. W. Sellar, W. B. Chennells, E. H. Waddington, J. Caselberg, and G. C. Summerell. Apologia were received from Messrs F. W. Carey, R. Brown, C. E. Daniell, and J. B. Moodie. The Treasurer reported a credit oE £1 Os Id. Communications were read from the Paliiatua Borough Council, Eketahuna Borough Council, Greytown Borough Council, Pahiatua County Council, and. Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce, supporting the proposal for the deviation of the Rimutaka railway. Mr R. B. Ross, M.P., wrote, stating that he would asdst, to the very best of his ability, both outside and in Parliament, to forward the movement for the deviation of "the Rimutaka railway. •Mr Victor Phillips, of Kaitoke, wrote, suggesting that the most suitable line for the Hutt Valley settlerswould be via the Tauherenikau Valley , coming out near Woodside. He offered to d<) all in his power to assist the movement.
