AND THE MASTEETON CHAMBER. The Masterton Chamber of Commerce recently received a-communica-tion. from the British Imperial Council of Commerce, -stating that the eighth Congress of Chambers of Commerce of - the British.. Empire would be held in London in 1912. At yesterday's meeting of the local Council, Mr D. Donald stated that he had represented the Masterton Chamber at the last Conference, which had been held in Sydney. At least two of the resolutions passed at that Conference had been given effect to. He had thought that this Chamber might forward a remit for consideration at the next Conference, end he moved the following j—"That this Congress heartily approves of the Anglo-Ameri-can Peace Treaty, and has sanguine hopes that other Power® will join, thereby making the tribunal sufficiently powerful to assure permanent peace throughout the world." Mr Donald remarked that nothing could affect commerce so much as peace. He would mpve that the remit be forwarded to the Congress. Mr Keith seconded the resolution. He thought the passing of such a resolution would be a good advertise-ment-for Masterton. Mr A.' Henderson stated that Mr T. 6. Mason, a former member of the Chamber, was at present in England, and he might represent the Chamber at the Empire Congress. Mr Donald said the appointment of -a delegate might be left over until ft later dat?
