HARBOUR BOARDS ACT
. ALTERATION REQUIRED.
By Telearavh —Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. A sub-committee of tlie New Plymouth. Harbour Board, appointed at last meeting to consider an amendment of the present Harbour Board legislation, reported ■ recommending alternatively:—(l) That the alterations in Jijie law effected by the passing of the Harbours Amendment ..Act, ih-jo-far as such institutions affect the ( constitutioni, representation and election of members of Boalrds, I be repealed, and that the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1908, relating to the same, and repealed by ifche Amending Act of 1910, be re-enact-ed f or (2) That the first .schedule to the Harbour a Amending Act of 1910 be repealed, and Wo new .sched|Ules (substituted, the first to embrace such of the Boards ais prefer (to remain under the Amending Act of 1010 (with such modificaton® as to representation, etc., as. they may require) ; the second to embrace Boards who prefer to remain under the Act of 1908, and that clause 30 of the .main Aot be re-enacted. The second recommendation was adopted, asad will be conveyed to * the Minister of Marine 'and to the Harbour Boards Association as a. remit, with a request that a Conference be held as early as possible to consider the question..
