SPARROW AND CLAY-PIGEON MATCHES.

Sparrow and Clay-pigeon matches were fired in connection with the Mastertoh Gun Club on Mr A. Matthews's property at Lansdowne yesterday afternoon. - A large number of competitors took part, and a most successful afternoon's eport resulted. Following are the results:—

SEVEN BIRD SPARROW MATCH. —Sweepstake; two misses out. Hep. Total Yds. Kills.

OHIO 18 3 J. Rankin, 1010 11 2 F. Dorset, 100 . 12 1 The figures 2 and 1 signify the v '.xber of barrels used. King came first, with Gmm am: 1". Whittaker second and third respectively. Long scr 18 4 Jas. Whittaker 11 3 J. Gunn 12 1 Irvine came first, with King and Upton second and third respectively. A sweepstake sparrow match was also fired after the above. The conditions were, first miss out. This was divided by Messrs Buick and Irvine with five kills each.

A five clay-bird match concluded the day's shoot, and was won by Mr Taplin, with Mr Upton second.
