KING GEORGE V.

VISIT TO EDINBURGH.

A BRILLIANT RECEPTION

<Received Last Night, 10.40 o'clock.)

LONDON, July 18. The Duke of Connaught received His Majesty and the Royal Party at * Edinburgh station. The Lord Provost presented the keys of the city to His Majesty. A brilliant procession took place to Holyrood. The troops lining the streets, the guards of honour, and the troops in ■escort were exclusively Scots. The Scots Greys, under Prince Arthur of Connaught, evoked almost as much patriotic acclaim as did the Royal carriage. The Chief Constable "of Edinburgh headed the procession. Then came the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry, followed by the March Pursuivant, the Unicorn Pursuivant, the Ross Herald and the Rothesay Herald in their tabards. These were followed by the first division, of the Scots Greys, Escort Officers, Headquarters Staff, and the King-at-Arms. The second division of the escort, immediately preceded the Royal car- ■*§■ riage, which was an open landau, v drawn by four splendid Cleveland Tiays. The Royal Standard followed. Then came the aides to the officers in the procession. The third division was composed of 'Soots Grevs, and members of the Royal Household (in three landaus). The fourth division consisted of an escort and squadron of the Scottish Horse. After entering the Palace pre•cincts, His Majesty the King, accompanied by the Duke of Connaught, inspected the Guard of Honour supplied by the second battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The King, in walking down the lines, became visible to the spectators on the slopes of the hills. Enthusiastic chepring was then renewed. ...-.''..'
