COUNTRY RACING CLUBS.

CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night, meeting of representatives from countfy Racing Clufbs was held on Saturday night, <to consider matters affecting their interests. The position of country clubs in the .matter of representation on the New Zealand Racing Conference and on the Metropolitan Coininiftt-ee was discussed at length.. The following resolutions were unanimously passed:—

1. That the time has fully arrived when the representation of country club® on the New Zealand Conference should be equal with that of (the Metropolitan Oluibs, and this meeting earnestly requests the Conference to set up a committee .to see if" it is desirable to set up a New Zealand Jockey Club. 3 That a deputation wait on the chairman of the Racing Conference and lay (before Mm the resolutions passed at the meeting, coupled with a request that "the Conference grant the concessions asked for, and that the delegates report this (Monday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.

At this stage the meeting discussed (the Racing Commission's report, and .the meeting resolved: "That a grave injustice had been done to country racing clubs by cancelling totailisatar .permits. This meeting-is prepared to render all as- ■ sktanoa to clubs in rni&king reprei sentaitions .to Parliament with a view to reinstating "such 'permits. If •the House, is of opinion that permits should be reduced, reductions should only affect those. clubs racing more than two days a year."

I The chairman of the meeting was •empowered ito promote a Bill for consideration in the ensuing session of Parliament,, having a® its object to give effect to the wish that Parliament should give preference to .'clubs holding one day meetings.

All those present will wait as a deputation on Sir 'James Cairroll this morning, and lay before him the resolutions passed, and the grievances, under which country clubs are suffering.
