DISTRICT NEWS.

KAIPARORO

it rotu Our Own Correspondents.)

Very heavy rain fell here during the early part of last week, butthough rivers and creeks, were en high flood, and low-lying land was covered with water, the only damage reported was the filling in of drains and a few wasli-outs on the roads. The weather for the past few days has. been settled, and though now the. nights are severely cold,* the days are (bright and , sunny, and the change'is much appreciated after the long-continued period, of wet weather. On Thursday evening last the usual monthly dance was held in the hall. There was a good attendance, visitors from Eketahuna and the surrounding districts being present. Miusie was supplied toy Messrs C. Gray (piano), and L. Parker (cornet), extras being played by Miss Flyger and Miss Jago. The floor was in excellent order, an appetising •supper was served, and a very pleasant time was spent by all present. Arrangements are now well in band for the social, wh/idi is to take (place in the hall next Thursday, in aid of the fundi of the Kaiparoro Brass Band, and as all settlers are interested in the Band's welfare, it is hoped thait there will be a good attendance at the social, and that the Band's funds will be considerably augmented. Mrs Herbert Renall returned to her home last week, after an extended holiday in. Carterton, and Mr and Mrs Harold Renall have arranged to leave this week for the Wairarapa, where they intend 'to 'Spend a fortnight.
