The Hon; G. Fowlds returned to "Wellington from the south yesterday Mr P. Ligertwood has left the Pongaroa district, to settle at Te Kuiti.
The death is announced of Mrs F. J. Kerr, of Woodville. The deceased at one titne resided in the Wairarapa The death occurred at Hokitika on Sunday of Mr John Bevan, who represented Hokitika in the House of Representatives from 1884 to 1887. Deceased wus seventy-four year* of age, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at New Plymouth has given a call t-. the Rev. Thomas Roseveare, of Weston, Oamaru. A London cable states that Prince Leopold of Battenburg's horse bolted and fell at the Territorial Camp :<.t Lul .vorth. The Prince sustained scleral cuts on the head, but is progressing favourably. Mr C. Hall, M.P., denies tlxat he intends retiring from the Waipawa seat in favour of the Hon. T. Mackenzie,
The Ven. Archdeacon Jacob, of Wanganui, has l>een nominated v for arid accepted the charge of St. Mary's Church at Timaru.
Mr C. N. Baeyertz, who acted, as judge at the Masterton Competitions last week, has been appointed judge for the next Inveroargill festival.
