RED STAR (20) v. MASTERTON (C
Red Star had an easy victory on-i Masterton on itlie old Showgrounds on Saturday. In the early part of the game Masterton succeeded in getting on the line several times, but were unfortunate in not 'scoring. The rest of rthe game was very much in favour of Stars, who had their opponents defending for practically the whole time. Stars scored si xtries, only one of which was converted. A. Miller took the sucsessf ul kick. The score should have been considerably more than it was, but the Stars have nobody in their team who can place kick. Miller, R. McKenzie, Ross and N. Chamiberlain were the pick of the winners, while Spackman, Mackellar and Yates- played best for Masterton. Mr Frank Croabie controlled the game.
GLADSTONE (3) v. CARTER TON (0).
Gladstone defeated Carterton, at Carterton, by three points to n 1. 1 he only score was-a penalty n'-al The game was a most exciting <i>:e, v.nd was well contested. , JUNIOR. PALEFETLD (11) v. RED STAR (o).^ A fast, rough game between Dalefield and (Red Star, on the Showgrounds, resulted in favour .-f the former by 11 points to nil. Ihe sco-e was made up of (three tries, one o r which was converted. LIBERAL (52) v. MASTERTON (0). Masterton suffered an overwhelming defeat at the hands of Liberals. The final score was 52 points to nil. THIRD CLASS. RED STAR (15) v. DALEFIELD (0): Red Star Thirds defeated Dalefield, at Dalefield, iby 15 points to nil. LIBERAL (3) w MASTERTON (0). A good match between Liberal and Masterton. resulted on a win, for the former by 3 points to nil.
A senior match between teams picked from Carterton and Gladstone (South) and Red Star and Masterton will be played in Masterton on Saturday next. Carterton seniors retain the championship for another year. The junior and third-class competitions have not yet been completed.
