Mr. F. Moore, of •Wanganui, is at present a visitor to Masterton.

Mr R. R. Martin, organiser of the Reform Party, was on a visit to Pahiatua yesterday.

. Advice has been received that Mr DavkL Crewe, of Pahiatua, attended the King's levee held at Buckingham Palace at the end of May.

Sir James Carroll received the following cablegram from Marseilles '->st evening from Sir Joseph Ward, B- ".: —"Just leaving by Ruapehu for Port Said. All well."

Mr W. E. Bidwill, of Rototawai, is reported to have been somewhat seriously ill. His friends will be pleasftl to know, however, that he is now improving in health. ;,

Mr Sydney Doree, touring manager for Sousa and his Band; wa3 a passenger by the Moana* which arrived at the Bluff on Monday. The famous band, which is now in Australia, opens ite New Zealand tour in Inveroargill on Monday, July 31. Masterton will be included in the itinerary. Mr Herbert J. Jones, of Masterton, has received advice from the London office of the International Correspondence Schools that lie has been awarded a diploma in the eleotricnl engineering course. ~

Mr Hugh Morrison, of Biairlogie, who was Vice-President of the Masterton A. and P. Association last year, ha*? been elected unopposed as President for the ensuing year. Mr Morrison has been an enthusiastic worker for the Association for some. years past. Messrs R. J. Dagg and W. J. Welch have been elected unopposed as Vice-Presidents of the Association.

Mr J. Wallace Smith, formerly of Masterton, who is Mangahao district after a .residence-there of eleven years, was entertained by the settlers the other evening and made the recipient of a number of valuable presents. *
