Great surprise has been caused by the publication in the Daily Chronicle of a Sydney cablegram, stating that a light had been arranged between Johnson and Langford at the Sydney Sports Ground on December 26th next, the State Government generally supervising the arrangements and receiving 10 per cent of the takings.

JOHNSON DENIES THE REPORT. (Received July 14, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 13. Johnson denies that he has been approached in regard to a fight with Langford. He declares that he will not fight Langford without a bet of 10,000 dollars and substantial purse. Johnson is arranging to visit Australia at the conclusion of his English engagement.
