DISTRICT NEWS.

T(From Our Own Correspondents.'

TINUI. The [address delivered hero last night 'by Mi- W. C. Buchanan-, M.P., was on. the. same lines as the one he gave in Feaitherstpn. twenty-five years ago. It was itdie same cry of population and capital being driven out of the Dominion. The .Government { is running the country into bankruptcy. In fact, according to Mr , Buchanan, people will soon want to know, "What's wrong with Nov/ Zealand?" But people are asking, "What's ■wrong with Messrs Buchanan and Hogg?" Are /these two members ever going to make an effort to settle the young men on 'the rich lands of the Wairarapa? Or do they inlfcend to let things remain as they are? Huge areas l of rich laud held by absentee owners and managed by economical managers! In this district there are quite a number of capable young men ready to grasp an opportunity if offered. If anybody will step into the boxing hiall on a. Tuesday or Friday evening they will see the splendid class of young men referred to. These young fellowo are all landless, and have to le* off steam by punching each other's head. Now, these are the eq-rlfc to put on the land. They are full of energy, anid are of strong constitution, and itheir children would be the right 6ort to defend *he Empire. It is hoped the- nexftl election will open the book of progress l , and in a short time the flower of the land vrill be working their own homes.
