WAIRARAPA RAILWAYS.
The railway grievances of the Wairarapa are, apparently, never ending. They must be a sort of nightmare to Ministers of the Crown. But the residents of the district are determined that they shall be heard. A deputation waited upon the Hon. T.- 'Mackenzie at Carterton on Tuesday, and told Mm that things were ki a state of horrible muddle, and that this ''branch line," as the Hon. J. A. Mllar has been pleased to call it, was being allowed to go "to pot." The Minister explained that Ms colleiague of the Railways had been trying to make the service pay, and this he had accomplished. A nice excuse this for alio wing a service to become unbearable! The Wairarapa line hav always paid, and it will continue itlo- pay, so long a-s (business methods a-re employed in connection with it.
