DISTRICT NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent ' KAIPARORO. In common with, other parts of the Forty-Male Busili, this district has experienced 'several dense fogs, which completely enshrouded the landscape —objects a. chain distant being flcaxieely visible. Hares are becoming plentiful throughout the district, and are proving another pest for.farmers to.oope with. Lately, they have been showing 'great (partiality for turnips and carrots, and consequently have raised the ire of several enthusiastic .gardeners'. Housewives are somewhat perturbed at the. present time owing to tine butcher, who has up till now paid bi-weekly visits here, deciding to omit onie of his visits. The local school opened on July 3rd, after a fortnight's vacation 1 . The monthly meeting of the School Committee, which, was to (have taken, place' on that date, lapsed for want of a quorum. Measles are very prevalent here at present, several families having developed the disease. On Friday night two brake-loads of merrymakers, from this district proceeded' to Hastwell to attend the Fancy Dress Ball, wbioh \m® held there to celebrate the opening 1 of the new hall. A very enjoyable time was (spent, and all hope to be able in the near future to return the hospitality of their Hastwell friends. Mrs 0. Falkner is at present absent on a visit to Hastings, and Mr C Burton as spending a month's holiday in Wellington.
