Arrivals this week heavy. Canterbury, 3Jd; North Island, 3§d. Lamb. —Stocks on hand heavy, but fair demand continues. The market is a shade weaker. Canterbury, s£d; other than Canterbury, 4fd. Beef. —Market depressed on account of supplies of American chilled beef being large. New Zealand hinds, 3sd; fores, 2|d. , . Butter. —Market remains firm, nominally. Choicest New Zealand butter, "108s (stock is exhausted): Danish 115s; Siberian, 102s; Australian, 103s 4d. Cheese.—Market steady with very good demand. Shipment of cheese ex Tainui arrived in good condition. New Zealand white, 60s; coloured, 61s. Hemp. —Market very quiet, nothing doing. New Zealand quotations nominal and unchanged, viz., New Zealand good fair on spot, per ton, £2l; fair grado, £2O; forward shipment New Zealand good fair, £2l 7s 6d; fair grade, £2O. Stock of New Zealand hemp, 809 tons. Manila market firm with more enquiry. Fair current Manila on spot, per ton, £2O; forward' shipment, £2l. Output from Manila for week, 21,000 bales. Wool. —The market quiet, but firm ! at last quotations. 36's low crossbreds Is l£d; 40's low crossbreds, Is 2£d; 40's medium crossbreds, Is 3d; 50's lialfbreds. Is 6jd; 56's quarterbreds, Is 9£d; 60's merinos, 2s 2£d. Kauri Gum. —Market very quiet. Stock of New Zealand gum, 266 tons. J Dark brown selected rescraped, £7 2s | 6d; dark brown, three-quarter scraped, £4 7s 6d; dark brown chips, drossy, 35s to 455; rescraped pale amber, £l2 15s; pale scraped, £7 10s; diggers' chips, good, £2 10s.
