THE LATE NIREAHA TAMAKI.
FUNERAL AT HAMUA. By Telegraph — Press Association. PAHIATUA. Last Night. The body of Nireaha Tamaki, Maori chief, of Hamua, was interred yesterday. Rev. Father Delach, of Otaki, assisted by Bishop Redwood, Dean McKenna, of Masterton, and Father McKenna, Pahiatua, officiated at the graveside. A very large number of sympathisers from Pahiatua, Eketahuna, and the surrounding districts were present, including several tribes of natives from Levin, Taranaki and elsewhere. Owing to Sir James Carroll being unable to attend, the Government was represented by M<Sheridan, late of the Native Department. Deceased was well respected by everyone.
