CARTERTON NEWS.

(Own Correspondent.) The local (branch, of the Wairarapa Egg Circle, yesterday sent away closeon a 'hundred dozen eggs. Mr J.* Fisher, a prominent member of the Carterton Hockey Club, was the other evening presented with a handsome fourteen-day clock, to mark the occasion, of hus approaching marriage. The Hon. T. Mackenzie will be present at a Liberal isocial at Dalefield this (Tuesday) evening. Owing to the damp nature of the weather, the social to have been held last i&veamng, under the auspices of St. Mark's Church, was postponed. A heavy faH of rain was experienced in the district yesterday, and all low-lying lands were under* water in the evening. The. Rev. R. Young, vicar of St. Mark's Church, is at present attending Synod.
