WHOIE TOWN DESTROYED. NIGHT SPENT IN THE STREETS. Received This Morning, 12.10 o'clock. VIENNA, July 10. Earth shocks of twelve minutes' duration have been experienced. The damage at Kloskemet amounts to £IOO,OOO. No building was left intact. Many were injured by collapsing walls. Several women went mad, and were taken to an asylum. A fissure, which opened outside the town, emitted hot mud and sulphur. Elsewhere, a peasant and nine children were killed. Little damage resulted at Budapest, though a great panic was caused, and thousands rushed into the streets in their night attire and gazed at their houses, expecting them to topple over. Many spent the night in the streets. The inmates of an asylum were frenzied, and some fearful struggles with the nurses took place. Many had to be placed in straight jackets.
