AMUSEMENTS

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. Notwithstanding the wet weather last evening, there was a good attendance at the Foresters' Hall to witness the change of programme. Them was. plenty of variety amongst the excellent series of pictures ahown. In the dramatic section, "Overland to Freement" was a stirring Indian, drama which found great favour with the audience, while ' 'Two Valentineis" was one of those delightfid studies which have made the Edison Co.'s name famous. "Young versus. Old", was a pleasing Lubin drama. A particularly good budget of icomedy-idramas was shown, the best one being "Jean Goes Fishing" in which the Vitagraph Company's favourite dog Jean takes a prominfent part. "The Planetary System" was a very interesting scientific study. A picture .showing the Gorges of Rummeli, in 'North Africa,' was beautifully coloured. The trial of the Cammorists (Black Hand Society) at Viterbo, in Italy, was followed with keen interest by the audience. Of the other pictures' shown the following are worthy of special mention:— Trio Acrobats, Jim Smith champion boxer, Foolshead the Sport, Doctor Cupid, A Cle» vei" Ruse, and Peculiar Pets. The programme will be repeated this evening.
