AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The matinee and evening performances at the Foresters' Hall on Saturday last were well attended. The programme this, evening is a varied one, and contains the latest productions of the chief film-makers in the world. In. dramas there is a fine Indian-military study by the Kalem Company, entitled "Overland to Freemont," and. one of the Edison Co/s latest successes "Two Valentines.. Comedy-drama is a strong feature of the programme, there Ibeing four first-class studies, including a delightful Vitagraph picture, in which the favourite dog Jean takes a prominent part, called "Jean Goes Fishing" ; a charming Imp production called "A Clever Ruse' r ; and "Doctor Cupid," also "Age versusYouth." Lovers of the noble art •will find much to interest them in a film showing Jim Smith, .the world's champion, in a contest. The sensational Ca.mprra trial An Italy is graphically depicted. ~;v-"if> film entitled "The Planetary System" shows the last passage of Halley's Comet, which is now fast disappearing into space. The programme includes a number of other dramatic, comic, spectacular and instructive pictures.
