"DAD CAN DO IT!"
YOUNG MEN AFRAID OF WORK. When the subject, of establishing classes for machine-shearing was under discussion at the meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday, Mr James McGregor paid he had just a little'doubt as to whether the young men of the district would avail themselves of the opportunity to learn shearing. He instanced the experience in regard to corn-stacking, when liberal prizes were offered and there was no response. He had asked two young men, "Aren't you going to compete?" One of them replied, with a shake of the head. "No! It's too jolly hard work. Dad can-do it if he likes." The stacking competition had fizzled out. Were they, asked Mr McGregor, going to get young iro who were not afraid of hard work to learn shearing? His experiences over stacking led him to think rot. Mr Nevins: It says row Rtle for the young men around Masterton! Mr McGregor: T admit it c^oos. Mr W. Perry: The remorks pf Mr McGregor make me, as a New Zenlander. feel very small. "■
