Groves, as executors of •the late Mr A. McHutchon, of Wihafcatakd, claimed -a sum of £SOO as compensation for tihe death of Mir . MoHhitdhon., from the Castlepoint County Council, by whom he was employed as County Clerk, Road Overseer, Rat© Collector aind Treasurer. > The claimants contended that tihe ( accident which caused the death of Mr MoHutcihon arose out of, and in the course of his employment as a road overseer. The defence was a denial that, at the time of the accident, the deceased was engaged in. his employment. Mr Justice Sim, President of the Arbitration .Court, yesterday delivered judgment, upholding the content - tdon, of the claimants, and awarding £SOO compensation for death, and£2o funeral expenses (as provided by the Act), with £ls 15s costs and witnesses' expenses. - Mr Jordan- (of Gawith and Logan) of Mastertoni, appeared, for the claimants at "the hearing of tihe case, and Mr E. B. Brown for the respondent Council.
