I . r* I ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT. j The annual smoke concert In connl eotrion. with the Opaki Rifle Club was held in Murray's Hall, Masterton, last evening, and proved a most [ interesting and enjoyable function. Apologies for absence were received from. Captain Welch, Messrs H. G. •Williams, J. 0. Bidwill and J. C. ■Ewington. The chair was occupied by His Worship the Mayor (Mr J.' M. 7oradine.) The following toasts were honoured:—"The King," the Chairman; "The Army, and New Zealand Forces," proposed by Ma- Inder, responded, to by Lieut. Haslam ; "Parliament of New Zealand," proposed hv the chairman, responded to by Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P.; "N.Z. Defence Rifle Association," proposed by Lieut. Haslam, responded to by Mr G. Hyde; "The Donors of" Trophies," proposed by Mr Wrinslade, responded to by Messrs Goradinie and Hogg;'"The Opaki Rifle Club," .proposed by Mr H. C. Robinson, responded to by Mr R. J. Ring; "Kindred Sports," proposed by Mr D. M. Mcintosh, responded to by Mr J. Pauling; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr G. R. Sykes, responded to by Mr J. Murray; "The Press." During the evening, musical and other dtenrs were rendered by Messrs Gkyison, Walsh, Smaliwood, G. R. Syk.es, and Gully. In an interval in the proceedings, the prizes won during the season, were presented by the Mayor (Mr Coradine) as follows: Championship shield (club trophy) W. Wimsladie; McGregor Oup (B. class championship) V. Swanson; President's rose bowl (Mr H-. G. Williams')-W. Winslade; G, Hyde's rose bowl, W. Winskdie; A. P. Whatman's trophy (first in. A. grade), W. Winslade; A. P. Whatman's trophy (first in. B- grade), V. Swansion; Mr Henderson's- trophy (200, 500 and 600 yds, first field day), H. C. Jomesi; Mrs H. G. Williams' -trophy (B class), T. Evans; ; Kang arid Henrv's trophy (800, 900 and 1000 yds), "D.'M. Mcintosh; W. J. WeJoh's trophy (B. class), R. J. Smith; Gardiner and Sons' trophy (200, 500 and 600 yds, second field day), A. Lewim; C. B. Daniell's trophy. (200, 500, and 600 yds (B class), C.'G. Monro; Club trophv (800, 900 and" 1000 yds), R.-J- King; F. G. Maunsell's trophy (B class) J. Dagg; G. H. Perry's trophy (special medal for record scare), W. ; Winslade. FORTNIGHTLY COMPETITIONS. Mr H. G. Williams and Mir A. W. Hogg, 2 guineas each," made into eight trophies, as follows: First Competition.— (Mr H. G. Williams' trophy, A and B class), H. C.'James', H. R. King. Second Competition'.— (Mr A. W. Hogg's trophy, A and B class), A. Lewin, V. Swaaison. , Third Competition.— (Mr H. G. Williams' trophy, A and B class*), W. Hodges, V. Swanson. Fourth Oompetition.—-'(Mr A. W. Hogg's trophy, A and B Class), W. j Winislade, V. Swanson.
