DR. VALINTINE'S SCHEME.
Tr. Valintine's scheme for the medical inspection of school children has been wielded. In nearly every respect it is .similar to that propounded gome years ago by Dr Mason. The weakness about it is that of finance ancf the diagnosis of disease by school teachers. The teaching staffs of the Dominion are already pretty fully employed in wrestling with the complex details of a varied and extensive syllabus. If they must add to their other qualifications a- degree of medicine, the difficulty in procuring adequate teaching staffs will he immeasurably increased. When the scheme" comes before Parliament, as' it may .do in the ensuing session, it will probably be subjected to such modifications as will make it workable.
