"INTREPID BREVITY."
Some interest has been aroused by a phrase used by Lord Curzon at one of the recent banquets in London. Discussing the proposals for an Imperial Council, he referred to Sir Jioseph Ward, who '\put forward, with intrepid brevity, proposals which had jaot Ibeen accepted." The idea of Sir Joseph Ward making a hrief speech .about anything is so surprising that the suspicion is suggested that Lord Curzon was in sarcastic mood. This may foe the case, or it may be that the new baronet has -burned over a new leaf, and in future will he noticeable, not for inordinate verbosity, but for short, pithy speeches.
