FILM CATCHES FIRE
ATA CINEMATOGRAPH SHOW. AUDIENCE PANIC STRICKEN. (Receive.l Last Night, 9.10 o'clock.) LONDON, June 27. At Portsmouth picture palace, during a cinematograph display of the naval review, a film ignited. The operator was unable to extinguish the flames, and he closed the apertures of the operating cabinet, and rushed ,into the hall. A cry of fire was raised, and two thousand people rushed terror-strick-en to the doorways. Many were crushed. A number of women fainted. It was miraculous that no fatalities occurred.
