The Chief Government Veterinarian (Mr C. J. Restes) reeently gave some interesting details' of pasteurisation experiments carried out at Glen Oroua, under the. Supervision of a Government official. The results showed that out of 331 pjigs fed on pasteurised milk only 22 contracted tuTjeroulftsis—most *of them V,on.ly slightly. Investigation showed that several of the pjigs affected had contracted the dread disease by running witih cows troubled with the same complaint. Conclusive proof was tihus afforded of the danger of running pigis with cows whiicih weir© not in a- healthy state. The experiments showed the rbeneficdal' results of feeding pigis on pasteurised milk. j.Tihe folly of -giviiaig the unpasiteurisedi article was apparent. This was even mtore noticeable in the feeding' of calves.
