THE GLADSTONE HOTEL.
A QUESTION OF LICENSE. At a meeting of -the Waira-rapa South County Council on Saturday last, a letter was read from Massris Young a.nd Tripe, solicitors, of Wellington, asking for the Council's consent to the- transfer of tiro Gladstone Hotel from William Young, \ 'present licensee, to Ernest G. Al-, ford, and also a. .mor/tgage from Alford to Manning and .Co. Messrs Fitzgibhon and. Ferry, solicitor®, wrote in. a .similar storaxn on behalf ■tf William Butler. The Couni&l did pot <have sufficient informatiion to h.and regarding the transfer, and set up a TOmimittee, con si sting of Or Moore and the Clerk (Mr H. H. Wolser,s) with power to act, either to ;grant tihe transfer or refuse it.
