According to a London cable received last night, the Prince of Wales has been officially rated as a midshipman of the Fleet. Mr Arthur C. There' was a "large and representative gathering at the bar at Dunedih the other day-to felicitate Sir Joshua Williams on his knighthood. Mr Webb, President of the Law Society, I together with the Crown Prosecutor, [addressed the judge,' who was much moved, and made "a short reply. He said that, while he regarded the honour as perscnal, it reflected back on his forbears, who held honoured places among English judges. News was received in Masterton yesterday of the death 'at Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, of Mr Henry Sargent, a pioneer settler of that district. The late Mr S&rgent, who was seventv-five years of age, had lived in New 'Zealand for about sixty years, and was for some years a resident of Napier. He took an active part in the Maori war in the early days. The deceased, who had been retired for some time, leaves a family of* three daughters and two sons. One of the daughters is Mrs T. . C. Webb, of Masterton.
