AMUSEMENTS.

THE JOCK WILLIS-DAVE SMITH COMBINATION. Great interest is being manifested in the forthcoming season of the above combination, which opens at the Town Hall on Saturday Mext. The company is comprised of a number of versatile artists, who provide a genuine, two and a-half hours' programme, consisting, of sparking comedies, humorous monologues', musical gems, and the latest song successes. A special feature is made by the a-endering of the "Auld , Sangs." A Southern contemporary speaking of the performance, say®:— '"Matron® and /maids, as- well as the male persuasion,, can enter fully into the spirit of the attractive entertainment provided, as tliere is 'not an objectionable feature throughout the whole programme." The prinoi-, pal attraction will be the athletic display by Mr Dave SmMi, New Zealand's 'champion middle-weight boxer of the world, who will give a refined exhibition of ball punching, rope .skipping, and shadow sparring, also illustrating, prominent boxers' Mows and methods of attack. This portion of the entertainment should prove educational as well as interesting. The comedy element will bo well catered for by Mr Jock Willis, the feimouis Scotch comedian, whose humour never infringes on the coarse or vulgar .side.. Yet he is able to keep the audience in a state of merriment *the' whole time he is holding the boards. The Caledonian quartette party will render a number of j items, including the (fascinating comedy in. one act, entitled "Follow Me, Girls." The entertainment on the whole is spoken of as one of the most delightful surprise packets..,that has, yet toured the Dominion. The prices of admission are 3s- and 2si, and the box plan is now on view a + Miss Hive's.

BOXING. The programme to be presented by the Masiterton. Boxing Club at its tournament on the 28th. inst. includes the following items:— Fiveround feafclicr weigh* 'contest between F. Kerr (champion of New Zealand), and B. Treweek, (champion of Southland); Five-round hea-vy-weight contest, G. Sievers (Oareville) v. J. Lawrence (Carterton); Five-round bantam weight contest, J. Ferg.uiason (champion of Hawke's Bay) v. P. Reive (Carterton); Fdveround professional bout, D. Miurphy (welter champion of New Zealand), v. F.' Mafcmey (ex-ehampkm of West Coast); Five-round middle weight contest, V. Bdl'Mngton. (champion of-' AVairarapa) v. W. Peed (Carterton Boxing Club). Further particulars are advertised. ■ . ;
