MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Committee of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present,—His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. M. Ooradine)', Crs. A. Donald, W. Pragnali; F. W. Temple, T. G. Hoar, W. Candy, J. Elliott, J. Prentice, H. J. O'Le&ry, and J. C. Ewington.. Messrs Dalgety and Co. applied for permission to erect a storehouse for benzine and motor spirits..— It was decided to inform the applicant® that the Council would offer a fre» site on the banks of the river, and. in lieu of their not accepting the offer they will be compelled to comply ■with the !by4aw. W. H. Bennett, the contractor for the alterations, to the W.F.C.A. front, asked permission to block lta.'.f the width of the footpath.—Permission was granted subject to the arrangement being passed by the Borough Ercgaiteer-
A petition; was received from s?v-t'-.-al residents of Kuripuni Street, asking that tivo Hviras be erected in their street.—The matter was referred to the Gias Manager for a -report. -Tfolirj Butemen.t wrote asking that a culvert out&ide his property in Michael Street be cleaned c;;!' the water.to flow.---Th" 1 Engineer reported 'that tflie' culvert needed cleaning, but tihat the ditch on. the applicant'is property would also need cleaning before any benefit would be effected, line Engineer was* instructed, to have the culvert cleaned. ~^ The Town Clerk submitted a plan for the caretaker's cottage. in< the Public Park. The plan was of a cottage, with bathroom ami wash-house attached.— The plan was adopted, and the Towai Clerk was instructed, to ea.u for tenders. It was also decided to instal hot and cold water. Accounts amounting to £2BQ7 12s 6d were submitted and passed for payment. Or Donald, reported that a bare culvert in Powmall Street required to be railed off.—The Engineer was instructed to have the work done. Or Prentice moved t' 1 "' - a light- be erected in Elizabeth S:v-.et.
Or Hoar seconded the motion, which was- carried. * Or- Donald moved that a footpath be formed in Cornwall street. Or Hoar seconded tihe motion.
The Mayor was opposed to having a work dome without knowing what the cost would be. Or Prentice moved as an amendment that the Engineer present a report on the matter. Gr Temple seconded the amendment, which was carried.
