THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. . • The, "star"/'pdcti]ros at the- Forest- ' er's' Hall, "Semi, Tamils" and ■ "Tjho Showgirl's Stratagem," continue to drajjsv large bouses, and last night's audience was warm in its applause of these masiterpceces. Tlxe former picture deals with incidents m the life \of the notorious Queen, of Babylon, Semiramus,' and the destruction of tihe "Wicked Oity" by the Arabians. The acting all through, is excellent, and the colouring oif the picture superb The other tells the story of a show-j girl's sacrifice, and is a pro- i dubtion, in which that clevex act- , ress Miss Florence Laurence is Been, in tlhe leading rale. ''ln Picturesque Sydney" was a picture .in wluoh patrons were shown all the interesting spot® in and around Australia's first city, and isa every respect the picture was an excellent one. Some superb scenes in Western Ireland ware shown, wfhile ' 'Snakes and Their Habits" wa® an educational film. Of a. splendid budget of comics, "Tilly's Birthday" and "Hia j First Picture Show" were the fav-oiii-Mes.' The programme wili be repeated far the last fhne tonight. The children's matinee wiJJ be held ait 2.30 p.on. to-cfcay.
