NORTH ISLAND RAILWAY LEAGUE.

WHAT IS ITS MISSION? I iMASTERTON NOT SATISFIED. At the meeting of the Master ton. ' • 'Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a letter was read from the North Island Railway League, asking that a delegate be appointed to attend the j annual Conference t& be held in Palmerston North oil June 21-st". v The Chairman and Mr Moodie expressed the opinion that tlie League had. been of very little service to the Wairara-pa. Mr Henderson suggested that the Jjeague might assist th>e movement for the deviation of the Rimutaka railway. 1 Mr Moodie thought that no harm would crime if the Masterton Gham"ber were to secede from the League. Mr Ewington thought it would be •a mistake to secede. The League might be of. service - * The Chairman pointed out that tlhiis Chamlber had had no oainmuni•cation from the League since the last Conference. It seemed as though the Hastings Chamber was the prime mover in the League, and that the northern districts had thei rown interests to serve. Mr Moodie did not object to a delegate being appointed for another Oonfereoice, to see if support could be secured for the Rimutaka deviation movement.

After some discussion, it was decided that Messrs Carey and Moodie be appointed delegates to the Conference.
