THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR.
ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION AT SYDNEY. Received This Morning, 12.30 o'clock SYDNEY, June 12. The Sheffield Choir received an enthusiastic welcome-at Sydney. Seven steamers, conveying members of the various musical societies, the Yorkshire Society, and -the Citizens' Committee (Mr Holmaa and Da- Hlarriss being aboard) met the Zealandia at the Heads. Amid the strains of bands and vocal music the Clhoir was escorted to the wiharf, where, in the presence of a demonstrative gathering, Mr ftoliman formally greeted them. Sixty motor cars,; provaded by the Automobile Club, conveyed the members of the Choir to their hotels. Subsequently, at the Town Hall, the Lord Mayor and Mr Hobnail officially received Drs. Harriss and Coward.' in the evening the Choir were entertained at a conversazione by the members of the Philkirmoni'c Society. The bookings for theopendng concert to-morrow constitute a record.
Dr Harriss, in an interview, expressed the hope 'that'-'a choir would visit London next year, composed of musicians from Canada, .Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
