j MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Mastcrton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, there being present, Messrs William Perry (President). R. J. Dagg, J. B. Moodie, H. J. James. T. P. Lett, R. Gray, Q. Donald, J. Strang, J. P. Perry, G. H. Shaw, W. Oooi>er, B. Ravner, G. Summerell, W. H. Buick, W.J. Welch, G. E. Allen, H. Morrison, E. C. Harper, D. Caselberg, 0. C. Cooper, J. C. MeKillop, and I). McGregor, junr. A letter was read from Mrs Holme?, thanking the Committee for its resolution in regard to her late husband. SHEEP-SHEARING CLASSES. A circular letter was read from Mr J. G. Wilson, President of the N. Z, Farmers' Union, suggesting that steps be taken in the direction of forming classes for learners in shearing in- connection with Technical Schools. Mr H. Morrison stated that Mr H. | A. Nevins had expressed a wish to ad- i dress the Association on the subject. I j He suggested that the matter be de- J ferred until next meeting, and that Mr | Nevins be invited to be present. It was decided that Mr Nevins be invited to the. next meeting. SCHOOL EXHIBITS. A letter was read from the secretary of the Education Board, thanking the Committee for the encouragement it had given at its recent show of school exhibits. The secretary stated that the sum ' given in prizes was £ll. The President stated that, with the Government subsidy, the amount of £22 would be available. The communication was received, i PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION. | A letter was read from Mr E. C. ( Jack, secretary of the N.Z. Producers' Association, covering a communication | from Mr W. D. Lysnar. The letter j stated that cable advice had been re-; ceived to the effect that Mr Shatton, the producers' representative, had arrived in London. A suggestion was contained in regard to the tendering for the United States' meat contracts. The communication was received. OTHER SHOWS. <
The Canterbury Metropolitan Association notified that its next show would be held on November Bth, 9th, and 10th.
The North Otago Association advised that its annual show would be held on November 16th and 17th. GROUND COMMITTEE.
The Ground Committee reported having met in the morning, and decided that the question of alterations to the seats in the Grandstand at Solway be deferred until the October meeting. It was reported that a very successful tree planting bee had been held at Sol way, at which about six hundred native shrubs had been planted. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the superintendents (Dr Archer Hosking end Mr E. Hale), for the valuable assistance they had rendered at the tree planting. The chairman stated that the trees appeared to be coming on well. The report was adopted. FINANCE COMMITTEE.
The Finance Committee's _ report was read. The debit balance on May 31st wasreported to be £5976 12s 8d; expenditure for the month, £96 12s lOd; receipts, £ll7 4s 6&; debit balance at date, £5955 16s. Mr J. B Moodie, chairman of the Committee, stated that the Committee had gone carefully into the outstanding accounts, and were of opinion that the amounts outstanding would be very small at the end of the financial year. ANNUAL MEETING. On the motion of Mr G. C. Summerell, seconded by Mr 1). Caselberg, it was decided that the annual meeting be held at 2 p.m. on July 27th. NEW MEMBERS. The names of four new members were mentioned for proposal at the annual meeting.
