"THAT PROTEST."
ITo The Editor, t
Sir, — It was not my intentions of starting a controversy 1 through the columns of your paper w,hen I criticised the management of the Hockey Association, but apparently my remarks tore somewhat upset the equilibrium of the Hon. (Secretary. In reference to the grounds, I a.m" given to understand that the mat clr between Masiterton and P. and T. was allotted to. No.. 2 ground, but somee person took it upon himself to rearrange© matters to his own satisfaction, and we were relegated: to the rear. If this sq*t of thing is tolerated by the Association, very little good would accrue from a protest in that direction. Mr PragneLl, in his first query, asks rather a, chKldish question, "Is it possible to plav three matches on two grounds at tho isame time?" Certainly not. But I contend that- a better method coiild be employed in the allotment of grounds. I might inform Mr Pragnell that on several occasions I have done my little ibit towards furthering the interests of hockey, and not being blessed wiith any offspring I have not had the joy of minding the ibaiby^—though you could employ your time perhaps much worse . in other directions. One had only to listen to the scathing remarks made by players on Thursday to feel that he is only voiding a general complaint in bringing this matter under the notice of the management. Even the referee was heard audibly to remark, "I am keeping well away ifirom the ball on that ground," or -words"to that effect. Thanking you (for permitting me to again encroach upon your valuable space.— I am, etc., A PLAYER.
