Y.M.C.A. STRANGERS' TEA.

A TALK ON BIOGRAPHY. The Y.M.C.A. yesterday afternoon, in spite of the wet weather, had quite good gatherings, and began with v the Bible Class at 3.45, when Mr Perrin gave the members present a talk, on the Tabernacle, its sym* hols, itsfiumisiHngs, and its lessons. After the Bible •Class, the President of the Assodation;, Dr Prior, took tie Johair at the tea, wlhen Mr A. Donald delivered an address on • "Autobiography, or Man Know Thyself.'' In treating with the subject of biography those" present were at once in the company of great, men, and what better company could one keep? To the young men present who intended to take up the study of literature he recommended the study of Biography. One of the greatest of biographers was Plutarch, and he had to admit that his life, was adjusted and adorned by the study of the lives of men whose biographies he wrote. A man should know himself; he should know his relationship to his country, to his fellow men, and lastly to God, his Creator. Diogenes, in Athens, at 90 years of age, had failed to find a man. He urged, therefore, his hearers -.to- prevent- it being said that in Masterttoii there could not be found a man: The address was an earnest plea to those present to adjust their litres /.by careful reading, and reflecand a hearty vote.of thanks was accorded' the speaker '.' A vote of thanks was also accorded the ladies of the Methodist Church for provisions, and a vote of sympathy for the secretary of the strangers' "tea. Mr Ihbetson, who was unfortunately ill. Several spoke at the " gathering, Chief among whom being Mr E. Bannefaerd, of the Soldiers' Mission, Poona, India, who gave an interesting talk.
