SUDDEN DEATH.
TUMAiRU, Last Night. A retired farmer, named Jas. McG&Hahy, well known in the Asbburton and Winchester districts, single, aged 56, died suddenly from heart disease in the street this morning. He had been under medical care for some years. Charles Arty, an elderly man, who had been carrying on a cycle-repair business in Ghristohurch under another name,-was arrested there on a charge of misappropriation-of £l3 10s in March," 1909, the 'property* of C. W. Wood,'cycle dealer, of Taanaru,for whom he was a country agent. The accused pleaded 'guilty.* On: acemmt of his age a light penality was imposed. He was fined 20s and ordered to repay the money at the rate of £2 per month, in default of any payment six months' imprisonment.
